Sometimes, looking is enough

On holiday in France, a shop window made me stop. I wasn’t looking for anything. I just wanted another minute to look. That’s the small moment in this Reel. It was filmed on holiday, not during one of my vintage walks in Kraków. Even so, it captures something I like to make room for on those walks.

When you stop at a window, you don’t have to decide anything straight away. You can be curious about what you see without asking whether you should buy it. I don’t think every little interest needs to become a plan. Sometimes it’s lovely to notice something and stay with it for a moment.

Taking that feeling into Kazimierz

My private vintage shopping walks take us through selected vintage and second-hand shops in Kazimierz, Kraków, with time for the streets between them. The walk takes around two hours, and I can guide it in English or Polish. I can show you places I know, but the interesting part is seeing what you notice. If something catches your eye, we can take our time. If not, we carry on. There is no need to arrive with a shopping list, know anything about fashion or buy a thing.

This is a small version of a question I return to in New Ground: what catches your attention before you start thinking about what you’re supposed to want? A shop window is just a shop window, of course. But I like the freedom in that moment before you decide what to do next.

If you’re curious about joining me, here’s what to expect on a vintage shopping walk in Kraków. And if you’re not planning a visit, I’m still curious: what made you stop and look recently?
